JFKIAT’S CEO Roel Huinink Recognized on Schneps Media’s Queens Powerlist

Back to Newsroom

Huinink is honored as a leader within the aviation industry and the greater Queens community

Queens, New York – Roel Huinink, President and Chief Executive Officer of JFKIAT, was named to Schneps Media’s inaugural Queens PowerList. The list recognizes leaders and advocates from a wide array of industries in the business, nonprofit and political space for their continued commitment, profound impact, and influence on Queens over the past year.

On October 27, Huinink joined fellow honorees and community members at Terrace on the Park for a special celebration, which included a surprise visit from New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The evening also featured a raffle, with all proceeds donated to The Family Legacy Foundation, Inc.

“I’m honored to be recognized on the Queens PowerList and proud of the positive impact JFKIAT has had in our community,” said Huinink. “As a local business based in Queens, JFKIAT is committed to being an active participant in the life of our local community, and I look forward to continuing to support our partners and neighbors in the borough we call home.”

Huinink was appointed to CEO of JFKIAT in 2018, bringing two decades of leadership in business development, commercial management and marketing consulting. He leads T4’s dedicated management team and is responsible for developing, communicating and executing strategic and tactical plans for T4. Throughout the pandemic, Huinink was instrumental in JFKIAT’s efforts to restore travelers’ confidence in air travel and safeguard the health and safety of employees and travels at T4 alike, leveraging contactless retail technologies, communicating constantly with the CDC and government agencies, and making transformative changes to T4’s systems and processes to ensure the highest levels of safety. He also oversaw JFKIAT’s efforts to give back to the Queens community in the wake of the pandemic through its corporate giving program, 4GOOD.

Over the last year, JFKIAT has continued to invest in innovative sustainability initiatives, philanthropy and local business partners while delivering a seamless experience for customers in the post-pandemic travel landscape. In September, JFKIAT became the first airline terminal in the United States to receive Platinum certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for pre-existing air terminals.

Through 4GOOD, JFKIAT also seeks to serve local institutions that promote educational, social, and professional success. In 2022, JFKIAT and its partners have raised $200,000 through 4GOOD to aid the Queens community, donating critical funds to local nonprofit organizations that provide community support, local business support, and education.
